If you have an online business you know that you have to keep up with the pack and stay relevant and current.  That means that you must be using a variety of different social media sites, from Facebook to Twitter, and now to Instagram.  How in the world are you supposed to keep up?  Instagram is a great way to enhance or begin your photo marketing efforts, due to the fact that their user base is expanding by the minute, your information is bound to spread like wildfire as well.  Instagram is pretty user friendly and provides a plethora of ideas and opportunities to spread your message.

Using Instagram is a great way to generate leads and a free way to promote your brand, especially since there are more than 50 million users as of today.  Here are some tips to using Instagram in a successful and productive way:

1. Create a plan before you start snapping shots.  Figure out who your target audience is and what it is that you want them to see.  What will get people talking about your company and how can you convey that in a picture?  This is when you must think about engaging your viewers in a positive way and making them think about your brand and what you can do for them.

2. Snap photos and make sure that they are available on Instagram only.  If your pictures can be found everywhere, there will be no lure to your Instagram site.  Go a step further, and leak news or special deals on Instagram a day or two early.  This will keep people interested and it will bring traffic to your Instagram site.  When you post pictures, make them personal.  If people see employees working together or celebrating a holiday, they will feel more connected to the company.

3. Use hashtags and make it easier for people to find what they are looking for in your pictures.  This will help you establish your brand and will bring in more followers.  Keep using hashtags on all of your posts and encourage followers to engage with you and others on your Instagram account.
