Online Advertising: Art, Science, or Both?

Companies of all sizes have been benefiting from getting into the online advertising game in the past few years. It’s been generating a lot of buzz, but how does it really work? While there’s a lot to be thought about in terms of placement and how much money to invest, ultimately, the design of the ad itself is the most crucial. Here are some hints for getting the clicks you want:

1.  The Ad Experience

Obviously, you want an ad that is accessible, compelling, and fits in as much information as possible- good wording is key! Your ad will often be placed right next to competitors’ ads, so anything that helps you stand out from the crowd is a must-do.

2. Don’t Underestimate the Landing Page

This should be a natural follow up to your ad- give them the quality and in depth information that your ad hinted at, and let them know here what you are all about. This can have a huge effect on the success of your ad, so don’t be afraid to put some time into your landing page until it’s exactly what you want.

3. Presentation Makes the Product

Though you want to be advertising a top-notch product, presentation can take an average product and turn it into a must-have commodity. By making the product easy to understand, the benefits apparent, and information accessible, you are making their choice to use your product easy, and won’t be turned away due doubting its quality.

4. Consider Price, but Don’t Let it Limit You

Every loves getting a good deal on a product, but sometimes the price is secondary to the amazing features that you get. Companies are looking for solutions to their problems, and if you can get them that, they won’t mind shelling out a few extra dollars.

Finally, no matter how much research and fine-tuning you do, all audiences are unpredictable and you never know what will be a hit and what will sink. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try- a little research and experimentation with your audience should give you an indication of what route to take. If you put in the time and effort, there’s no reason that your advertisement can’t get you the business you want.
