Managing Your Team: Tips on Effective Management Strategy

Overseeing a group of people working on a project, or an entire company with many employees can seem like an incredibly daunting task.  However, there are methods you can take as a manager or project leader that will help you create a positive space for your team, where progress is made and everyone feels good about it.  One way of doing this is by rewarding the team when it increases productivity and optimized performance. 

When you pair up people that may not necessarily work together, sometimes brilliance is created but also, barriers can be broken down between them that may have existed naturally since they had not yet worked together.  Sometimes employees that work on a similar project may feel a bit of competition with one another, so when they are put on the same team and told to work on the same project, the result could be powerful.

Even teams that have different missions can work together harmoniously.  Creating a dynamic where the teams are dependent on each other for testing new software or running by ideas can bring positive energy to the company.  It will always make each team feel an added sense of responsibility and they will keep each other held accountable for the quality of their work.

However, this may not be necessarily relevant for many companies today, especially software development companies.  This is due to the fact that many companies are virtual, and teams are formed over the internet and are not physically close.  When you are trying to create a positive and effective team out of people that span across different time zones, languages, distances, and cultures, the best way to create a trusting bond is through frequent and fluid communication with the entire group.  This will make them feel as though they are a bit closer than they actually are.
